Andrea's research focuses primarily on international security issues, specifically military technology and innovation, net assessment, operations, and strategy. His dissertation uses management science to explain why European countries cooperate on certain types of weapons and not others. In 2015, Andrea was awarded the European Defence Agency and Egmont Institute's biannual prize for the best dissertation on "Defense, Security, and European Strategy."
