Women are agents of change toward a more sustainable Europe. The workshop aims to explore the role of women in the evolution and development of the blue economy, considering new growth challenges following the pandemic and the impact of climate change over the maritime and shipping sector. In particular significant constraints for female component will be discussed as well as strategies and projects to improve action in training, capacity building, technical cooperation and access to financing. The final goal is to increase awareness about gender mainstreaming in the sea economy.
The workshop is intended to promote an interactive discussion among public and private stakeholders, fostering exchange of current good practices and lessons learned from participants, providing for a snapshot of the blue economy under the gender lens and challenges for women in the sea economy. A particular focus on the two co-financed EU sister- projects WIN- BIG and WIN- BLUE and the state of the art in the Shipping, Ports and Fishing sectors in Italy with the participation of WISTA \u2013 Italy.
The workshop is conceived upon the EU Commission call for proposals “Women in the blue economy” launched on May 17 2022 and, more generally, on Next Generation EU as strongly linked to progress in twin transitions, providing for extensive adoption of the gender mainstreaming approach in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
