So-called \u2018tipping points\u2019 describe those moments when a system \u2014 whether ecological, political or social \u2014 undergoes a sudden and irreversible change: from climate collapse to the crisis in welfare systems, from the rise of populism to the concentration of power amongst today\u2019s tech giants, which echoes the earlier break-up of Rockefeller\u2019s Standard Oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing on the book <em>Gekippt<\/em>, this round-table discussion explores whether and how such moments of rupture can be predicted, influenced or avoided, rather than experienced as an inescapable fate. At the heart of the discussion lies the concept of social resilience: which tools \u2014 economic, institutional, cultural \u2014 enable societies to absorb increasingly intense shocks without crossing the critical threshold beyond which change becomes uncontrollable and irreversible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session will provide the audience with a framework for recognising the warning signs of a system on the brink of collapse and for devising responses capable of reversing course before it is too late.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"tags":[102,57,556],"channel":[],"event_type":[77],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.5 -
