V EDITION<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t23 – 31 October 2014<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tWith the title “Preventing Conflicts and Elaborating Solutions” the 5th edition o the Festival wanted to highlight how the role of diplomacy is increasingly strategic and central to building a solid culture of peace, registered more than 6,000 presences and was animated by participation of the main protagonists of the national and international scene.<\/p>\n
Under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, 47 appointments were held, divided into debates, round tables, conferences, events and B2B, on topical topics such as new technologies, conflicts that – from Ukraine to Syria, passing through Iraq and the Gaza Strip – are inflaming the planet, the economic crisis, human rights, the global economy and the fight against crime, hosted in the most prestigious institutional and academic venues of the capital. 80 Embassies directly involved and 27 Ambassadors as Speakers of excellence within the various moments of discussion. 6 embassies that have opened their doors to the public to attend conferences and debates on the themes of the Festival. Among the most successful events we should mention the “Inside the Embassy” meeting held at the US Embassy in Via Veneto and reserved for university students and PhD students in Political Science, on 22 October 2014; Born after the 2014 Wales Summit, held at SIOI on 23 October; the photographic exhibition “30 years of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and the United States of America” at the church of S. Maria in Trastevere from 24 to 31 October 2014; the seminar “International security on the Italian political agenda”, at the Center for American Studies on 28 October; the conference: Autonomist pushes and referendum, at the Center for American Studies on 29 October; John Ikenberry’s lecture at the Third University of Rome on 29 October 2014; the international summit \u201cResources Exploitation and Eco-sustainability of the Artic Region at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 31st, with the participation of the Min. Councilor of the United States Embassy in Rome, Mrs. Katherine Hadda. The Europe of Mastricht, and European Economic Policy, were two other issues addressed at the European Space at the European Commission Representation in Rome, in the presence of diplomats, representatives of institutions, opinion leaders.
