Paola Verrucchi graduated in Physics in 1991 in Florence. She obtained the title of PhD, in collaboration with the Institute of Theoretical Physics of Hannover, and continued her activity in Oxford with funding from the European Community. Today she is a researcher at the Institute of Complex Systems of the CNR, in Florence, where she works in collaboration with the Department of Physics and Astronomy, and the local section of the Institute of Nuclear Physics. Paola is a teacher for the Master’s Degree and Doctorate Courses in Physics and Astronomy, where she teaches “Quantum information theory” and “Quantum information and algorithms”, as well as for the Master’s Degree Course in Logic, Philosophy and History of Science , where he teaches \u201cQuantum logic and computation\u201d. Her research concerns the foundations of Quantum Mechanics, information theory, quantum logic, and computation. For fifteen years you have taken part in the initiatives of the Openlab (University of Florence) and Pianeta Galileo (Tuscany Region) projects, aimed at high school students and teachers. She organizes and carries out many scientific dissemination activities open to the public, dedicated to Quantum Mechanics and its applications. In addition to having published more than 100 articles in international refereed journals, and some chapters in specialized books on Theoretical Physics, she has taken part in many international conferences as a contributed, invited and keynote speaker, as well as as an organizer. Originally from the Island of Elba, Paola inherited her passion for sailing from her sailor grandfather; she started sailing at the age of 5, on her father’s little Alpa tris.
