After graduating in Sociology (Sapienza University, Rome), he started working at UIL (Unione Italiana del Lavoro, an Italian trade union confederation). He then specialised in &#8216;Adult Education&#8217; at the University of Florence. He runs the political training school of the &#8216;Centro Culturale Walter Tobagi&#8217; in Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1995, he moved to Brazil to coordinate an international cooperation project; he later became President of the ITAL-UIL Institute in Brazil (the Institute for the Protection and Assistance of Italian Workers and Pensioners is a patronage set up by the UIL also present abroad).<br>In 2008, he was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies with the Democratic Party for the Electoral College of South America. Re-elected in 2013, he won the South American senatorial seat in 2022, after almost four years of appeals for electoral fraud. In the general elections of September 2022, he was elected as an MP. He is a member of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and President of the Italy-Brazil Friendship Section of the Italian Inter-Parliamentary Union. In 2004 he was the leader of the \"LONG LIVE ITALIA - United for the Olive Tree\" list for the COMITES elections, subsequently assuming the vice-presidency. In 2005 the President of the Republic Ciampi awarded him the honor of \"Knight of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity\". In the 2006 elections for the Italian Parliament he was nominated by the Union party for the South America constituency, receiving 15,608 votes. From 2000 to 2008 he was president of the Ital-Uil Patronato, a position he left in March 2008 when he was elected deputy of the Italian Parliament for the South America constituency on the Democratic Party lists, with almost 17,000 votes. In 2013 he was re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies with 30,298 preferences; member of the III Permanent Commission on Foreign and Community Affairs and President of the Permanent Committee on Italians in the World and Promotion of the Country System. He is President of the Italy-Brazil Friendship Association; Vice President of ICPE (Institute for Cooperation with Foreign Countries) and Vice President of the \u201cFocus Europe\u201d Association.
