Maria Rita Testa is Associate Professor of Demography at Luiss Guido Carli University, Rome. She received her Doctorate in Demography from the University of Florence and her habilitation in Demography and Social Statistics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria, and from the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. She previously held position as senior researcher at the Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and at the European University Institute. Her main research interests include family, fertility, and reproductive decision-making. Her research findings have been published among others in Population and Development Review, European Journal of Population and Demographic Research.
