Ambassador Stefano Baldi has been a career diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation since 1989. He is currently Italy’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE in Vienna and was formerly in Bulgaria from 2016 to 2020. He has been working alongside for many years the diplomatic service with an assiduous academic activity. He has taught in many Italian universities (La Sapienza, LUISS, Roma TRE, LUMSA, Trento, Pavia, Florence), holding seminars and courses on international business, in particular multilateral diplomacy. His most recent research focuses on management for diplomats, social media for international affairs, and books written by diplomats. His publications include several books on the activities of diplomats (Diplomats, 2018) and a “Management Handbook for Diplomats” (2016). He has also published, in both Italian and English, the results of extensive research on books written by Italian diplomats (Through the Diplomatic Looking Glass, Diplo, 2007). His most recent books concern a photographic research on the history of Italian diplomacy. He has a personal website and is responsible for the training blog “Diplo Learning Corner” and the “Diplomatic Imaginary” website dedicated to historical photos of Italian diplomats.
