Director and founder of the Institute of Digital Geopolitics
Costanza Sciubba Caniglia deals with disinformation, in particular its geopolitical use on digital platforms. For the Wikimedia Foundation she is responsible for developing Wikipedia’s global anti-disinformation strategy and is affiliated with the Shorenstein Center for Media, Politics and Public Policy of the Harvard Kennedy School, where she co-founded the academic journal HKS Misinformation Review and where she carries out activities of research. She is director and founder of the Institute of Digital Geopolitics, a think-tank active in Italy and the United States on issues of governance in the digital era. Costanza has also launched a research project on disinformation operations in Italy in collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli, with a contribution from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, now in its second cycle. He also consults for various international organizations including OSCE/ODIHR, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others on issues of the impact of disinformation on democratic processes and internet policies. He worked for many years at the United Nations in New York, as a correspondent, public information officer, and in communications for the Permanent Representation of Italy to the UN during Italy’s mandate on the Security Council. He writes and consults on the issues of mis- and disinformation and his works have been presented at various universities, including Harvard, Columbia, Luiss, Tor Vergata, Michigan University and in the media, including CNN, Wired, D di Repubblica, La Press and RSI News. She was nominated by D di Repubblica among the “50 women of the year 2021”.
