Michèle Pranchère-Tomassini, born in Luxembourg (1960), completed her education at Ecole Normale Supérieure and at Université de la Sorbone (Paris).
She started her diplomatic career in 1986 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg (General Secretariat). In 1993 she served as Counsellor to the Embassy of Luxembourg in Paris as well as Deputy Permanent Delegate to the UNESCO and to the OECD. In 1998, Mrs. Pranchère-Tomassini was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and the International Organizations in Geneva as well as Permanent Representative to the WTO. In 2002 she was nominated Ambassador of Luxembourg to Japan and, in 2003, she was also accredited as non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Korea. In 2007 she was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WEU and representative to the Political and Security Committee of the European Union in Brussels. In 2012 she was appointed Ambassador of Luxembourg to the Czech Republic and accredited as non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia and to Ukraine. In 2017 she served as Ambassador to Spain and Andorra.
Ambassador Michèle Pranchère-Tomassini took up her duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Italy on 27 th October 2021. She has also been appointed Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the UN International Organizations based in Rome (FAO, IFAD, and WFP). On November 2021 she was accredited as non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Malta, on January 2022 as non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia and on February 2022 as non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of San Marino.
Michèle Pranchère-Tomassini is married and has three children.
