Sabino Cassese is an Italian jurist, has served as a minister for the public function during the Ciampi government and was a judge of the Constitutional Court of Italy in the period between 2005 and 2014. In 1994 he was appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the OMRI. Born in 1935, he graduated in 1956 in the field of law from the University of Pisa with summa cum laude. In his career he has also taken the position of professor at Italian universities in Rome, Naples and Urbino. Cassese was a visiting scholar in foreign colleges – Berkeley, Oxford, etc. In the years between 1987 and 1991 he was the president of the European Group of Public Administration.
