He entered the diplomatic career in 1975, after obtaining a degree in political science at Sapienza University in Rome and one year of experience in the banking sector. Over the years he has held numerous positions both abroad and in Rome, thanks to which he reached the pinnacle of his career with the appointment, in 2010, of Ambassador of Italy. Among these he was Deputy Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Republic, several times Head of Secretariat of Deputy Ministers and Undersecretaries for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Head of Ceremonial. He was Ambassador to Cuba, then to Kazahstan and Kyrgyzstan and to Uruguay. For six years he has held the position of General Secretary of the Italian Latin American Institute
