The blockade in Gaza: geopolitical considerations on hybrid fenced spaces

GO TO THE OTHER EVENTS

The war that broke out between Israel and Gaza in 2023 is merely the manifestation of a long-standing latent conflict within the area. One of the constants at play is undoubtedly the fencing off of the areas surrounding Gaza, which has created a blockade situation both on land and at sea. Discussing this issue allows us to question, more generally, the ongoing hybridisation between modern and postmodern logics of conflict. The fence and blockade, normally associated with modern warfare, are accompanied by the postmodern confusion between civil and military space, which seems to be the most distressing factor that the entire region has been dealing with for many years.
