Maurizio Caprara

Born in 1961, he is an international politics columnist for Corriere della Sera.

He served as Advisor to President Giorgio Napolitano and as Director of the Press and Communication Office of the Quirinale (Italian Presidency). He was also Advisor for Institutional and International Relations to the Minister for Technological Innovation, and Assistant for Communication and External Relations to the CEO of RAI (Italian public broadcaster).

As a host, editor, and consultant for television and radio programs, he has worked with RAI, Mediaset, and Sky. He has also taught various journalism courses.

He has been writing for Corriere della Sera since 1979. Hired as a reporter in 1982, he worked in the central newsroom in Milan, later in the political section in Rome, and then served for over 14 years as Diplomatic Correspondent, reporting from more than 60 countries.

He is the author of the book “Lavoro riservato. I cassetti segreti del Pci” (Feltrinelli, 1997), and of “Il caso Lockheed in Parlamento” (2001), included in Einaudi’s Storia d’Italia, as well as other publications. He has contributed entries on 20th-century history, Italian and international politics for several editions of the Garzanti Universal Encyclopedia.

He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Center for International Political Studies (CeSPI), the Executive Committee of the Giorgio Napolitano Association, and the Advisory Board of the Ugo La Malfa Foundation. He was also a member of the Executive Committee, Governing Council, and Board of Guarantors of the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI).

He has been awarded the title of Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
