Democracy, ideologies and armed violence

The project explores the complex intertwining of democracy, political ideologies, and the use of armed violence in historical and contemporary contexts. Through critical analysis, it investigates how ideologies—both right-wing and left-wing, secular and religious—have justified or countered the use of force in the name of, or against, democratic ideals. The concept reflects on how democracy can be both a victim and a justification of violence, highlighting the internal contradictions of political systems and the risks of radicalization. The goal is to stimulate an informed debate on the fragile balance between freedom, power, and the legitimacy of force.
