Aiste Galinyte coordinates public policy research and analysis activities for Transparency International Italy, focusing primarily on the rule of law, political integrity, and anti-money laundering efforts. She also supports the Italian chapter’s advocacy work.
She coordinates and conducts research for Transparency International Italy within the SECURE project, analyzing the rule of law and the anti-corruption framework in Italy and evaluating the European Commission’s Rule of Law Reports, with a specific focus on the report concerning Italy. Her work aims to identify key gaps and formulate recommendations to address them, as well as to assess the conditions necessary for implementing the recommendations contained in the European Commission’s Rule of Law Report.
Aiste also works on the European anti-corruption directive, participating in Transparency International’s relevant working group and contributing to the analysis of the directive, the development of policy recommendations, and advocacy activities to support its effective transposition in Italy.
Since 2019, she has coordinated Soldi e Politica / Integrity Watch Italy, a platform that monitors political integrity in Italy, featuring sections dedicated to political financing and private interests. This work is currently being further developed within the scope of the BridgeGap and SAFE Democracy projects.
Her other areas of interest include anti-money laundering and beneficial ownership transparency. She led the research on Italy for the STEP EU project (Strengthened Enforcement Capacities of Public Authorities) and contributed to a comparative study on the role and effectiveness of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) across 20 jurisdictions, with a particular focus on the Italian FIU.
