Donato Di Santo

Donato Di Santo oversaw relations with Latin America for the PCI, PDS, and DS (1989–2007). He served as Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs in the Prodi administration (2006–2008), coordinator of the Italy–Latin America and Caribbean Conferences (2008–2015), and secretary general of the IILA (2017–2019). Together with Giancarlo Summa, he wrote Goodbye Revolution: The Future of the New Latin American Left (Ediesse, 1994); in 2022, he published Italy and Latin America: History of a Foreign Policy Idea (Donzelli); and in 2026, *The Reactionary International: From Latin America to Europe: The Networks of the New Right (Castelvecchi). He edited the online monthly “Almanacco latinoamericano” (2009–2017). He collaborates with CeSPI, the Italianieuropei Foundation, the Gramsci Foundation, the magazine “Eastwest,” and the Casa America Foundation in Genoa. His website is: www.donatodisanto.com
