Brian Burch currently serves as the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. Burch was nominated by President Trump and confirmed by the Senate on August 2, 2025.
Prior to his appointment, Burch was president and co-founder of CatholicVote, whose mission is to encourage American Catholics to participate in public life. The organization fulfills its mission by educating and mobilizing Catholic laypersons, including through direct engagement in political, legislative, and judicial advocacy.
Burch is co-author of the American Catholic Daily Reader. He is also the author of A New Catholic Moment: Donald Trump and the Politics of the Common Good, published in 2020. In 2024, he edited a collection of essays titled For God, Country, and Sanity: How Catholics Can Save America.
A regular guest on Fox News, Newsmax, New Nation, and BlazeTV, Burch has been quoted by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Catholic News Agency, the National Catholic Register, NPR, and other national media outlets.
In 2018, he received the prestigious “Cardinal O’Connor Defender of the Faith Award” from Legatus International. In 2019, he was also honored with the “St. Thomas More Award for Catholic Citizenship” by Catholic Citizens of Illinois.
Burch earned a degree in political philosophy from the University of Dallas. He and his wife, Sara, have nine children and live in the suburbs of Chicago
