At CIHEAM Bari I’m a lecturer (Water Governance in Agricultural Environments; Large scale pressurized irrigation systems design and performance analysis) since 2003, Coordinator of the Knowledge Unit “Water Scarcity and Food Security” since 2017, of the Teaching Unit “Irrigation Systems’ Design, Planning and Management” and of the Master Program “Sustainable Water and Land Management in Agriculture” starting 2020, Initiator and manager of Internet of Things Lab since 2021.
Lecturer/co-organizer of more than 50 short-term training courses in the Mediterranean/Balkan/Arab countries area, India, and Tajikistan, under programs by several funding agencies (EU, GIZ, KfW, WB, FAO, UNDP..). Research activities focused on modernization of irrigation systems (engineering, agronomic, and governance aspects), reuse of reclaimed water in agriculture and impacts, with special focus on modelling, conceptualizing, and applying innovative technologies (DSS, IoT), development of integrated technological and management solutions for irrigation and water distribution, monitoring and evaluation systems, and dissemination and outreach frameworks.
