Fabio Bassan is a Full Professor of International Law at Roma Tre University. Since 2016, he has been an Arbitrator at ICSID, the World Bank’s tribunal for the settlement of disputes between states and investors.
He is the founder and Director of the Sovereign Wealth Funds Law Centre, a centre for legal research on sovereign wealth funds established in 2011. He is also Director of REMEIC, the Centre for Studies on Market, Business and Consumer Regulations, which in recent years has focused on research into algorithms and smart contracts.
He is currently involved in a PRIN project on Artificial Intelligence.
He has been collaborating for many years with ConsumersForum, organising institutional round-table discussions between Roma Tre University, the main consumer associations and independent authorities, and conducting annual research of national significance on alternative dispute resolution and the activities of independent authorities.
