Mr. Carmine Soprano is an economist, academic lecturer, and policy advisor with over 15 years of experience working in the development cooperation industry within international financial institutions (IFIs), UN agencies, CSOs, and the private sector.
In his current role at the World Bank Group, Mr. Soprano leads analytical, operational, and high-level policy dialogue work on trade facilitation, regional integration, private sector development, and related gender/youth ramifications. On the same subjects he regularly advises international organizations, and in the past has held positions within the Inter-American Development Bank and several UN agencies working in 30+ countries across 4 continents. He was an advisor to Italy’s Ministry of Finance during the Italian G20 Presidency in 2021.
Additionally, Mr. Soprano is an academic lecturer at several Rome universities, including LUISS, ‘’Tor Vergata’’ University, and SIOI (Italian Society for International Organizations), of which he is a member. He holds an ‘’Emerging Leaders’’ executive certificate from Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), an Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE), and a Master’s Degree in Economic & Social Sciences from ‘’Tor Vergata’’ University, and speaks fluent English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
As freelance journalist & blogger, Mr. Soprano is a contributor to the World Bank Group’s and the World Economic Forum’s blogs and to Corriere della Sera (Italy’s leading newspaper), and is regularly interviewed by national and international TVs. He is co-founder of ‘’Orchestra Arcus Regalis’’, a classical music orchestra affiliated with ‘’Santa Cecilia’’ Conservatory of Rome.
