Within the universe of Fake News, there is disinformation, which is a strategy aimed at exploiting false news and facts to achieve certain strategic purposes. The Treccani encyclopedia defines one of its aspects as follows: Intentional dissemination of inaccurate or distorted news or information with the aim of influencing the actions and choices of someone (e.g. one’s political adversaries, one’s enemies in a war, and so on). By analyzing two case studies, the “Pizza Gate” and the assault on the United States Congress on January 6, 2021, we will try to understand how it is possible that Fake News finds fertile ground for spreading and what are the real effects they have had and can have, beyond simple sharing on social networks or other channels. Furthermore, Some suggestions will be provided on how to defend oneself from this phenomenon and what strategies to adopt.
