Born on February 28, 1947, Alberto Volponi graduated in medicine and specialized in gastroenterology and cardiology. He was the medical director of the Umberto I Hospital in Frosinone and president of the local provincial medical association.
Mayor of Supino (FR) from 1983 to 1993, he was elected to Parliament in 1987. He was the first signatory of Law No. 175/92 (known as the Volponi Law) “Regulations on healthcare advertising and the repression of the unauthorized practice of healthcare professions.” During the Ciampi government, he served as head of the technical secretariat of the Minister of Health.
