Born in Milan with southerner origins (his father is from Naples, while his mother is from Lecce), Alessio Liquori is currently a diplomatic officer in service at the Permanent Representation of Italy at the United Nations in Vienna. In the past, he worked for over four years at the Italian Embassy in Skopje, in North Macedonia. Before becoming a diplomat, he worked at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), and before that, he was professor of economy subjects and researcher in several Italian universities and private research centers. The economics of tourism, environmental economy and the topic of sustainable development are some of the areas of applied research he analyzed the most. He speaks English, French, and Macedonian, and has some notions of Spanish and German. In his free time, he dedicates himself to cycling, hiking, alpinism, rock and ice climbing. He is a member of the Rome section of the Italian Alpine Club since 2004 and he was member of the Macedonian Alpine Federation. He is Regional Operator for the Protection of the Mountain Environment (ORTAM) for the Italian Alpine Club, and he was President of the Commission for the Protection of the Mountain Environment of the CAI Lazio.
