Graduated in Law and Political Science, he acts, as an Italian official of the United Nations, in numerous war theaters including Chile (during the Pinochet regime), Iraq, Namibia and Cambodia.
Angeli is known in particular for the rescue of Rosaria Bartoletti, the last Italian to remain in Sarajevo at the time of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 1996, Angeli received from the Municipality of Ortona the First International Prize of St. Thomas the Apostle among the People, for being the first Italian UN official to serve in Sarajevo during the war. Later, in 2010, he received the Special Mention of the Lombardy Peace Prize and was appointed Commander of the Order of the Star of Solidarity.
