His research areas are security and strategy studies focusing on the regions of Iraq, Syria and Libya. His studies focus on the analysis of modern conflicts and new forms of warfare. He is the author of several books and essays on modern conflicts, jihadist conflict, terrorism and strategic doctrine. He is director of the ICSA Observatory for Security in the Mediterranean.
