Physicist by training, with a doctorate in mathematics and statistics for economics, Andrea Cosentini began his professional career dealing with the application of mathematical models to financial markets, and then moved on to stock derivative trading, working in investment banks in Milan and London.
Aware of the potential of a virtuous use of data, combined with the effectiveness of new Artificial Intelligence techniques, in 2017 he took on the role of CEO of an AI services development company. In 2019 he was called to lead the Intesa Sanpaolo AI Competence Center, whose mission is to support the scale-up adoption of the Group’s AI strategy.
From October 2020 to December 2022 he also held the role of Chief Data Officer in the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, also dealing with the design and development of the National Digital Data Platform, whose project is, in the data sector, one of the most relevant included in the PNRR.
