Andrea Gilli

He is a Research Fellow in Military Affairs at the NATO Defense College in Rome and an affiliate of the Center for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.
He holds a PhD in Social and Political Sciences from the European University Institute (EUI) in Fiesole (Florence), a Master’s in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Turin (Italy). Andrea’s research focuses primarily on international security issues, specifically military technology and innovation, net assessment, operations, and strategy. His dissertation uses management science to explain why European countries cooperate on certain types of weapons and not others. In 2015, Andrea was awarded the European Defence Agency and Egmont Institute’s biannual prize for the best dissertation on “Defense, Security, and European Strategy.”
