Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”
From 1981 to 1992, he was a researcher at the Catholic University of Rome. He then completed a postdoctoral period at the Department of Chemistry of the University of British Columbia (UBC, Vancouver, Canada). In 1992 he became Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and since 2001 he has been Full Professor. Since 2011, he has been Director of the department of Chemistry and Drug Technologies at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and since 2014 he has been Pro Rector of Internationalization at the University of Rome La Sapienza. On 16 March 2015, he was appointed Chair of Action Cost 1407 “Challenging organic syntheses inspired by nature – from natural products chemistry to drug discovery”. He has given several lectures at prestigious universities including Michigan State University (USA), Stanford University (USA) and Toho University, Chiba, Tokyo (Japan). He is the author of numerous publications, including five patents. Moreover, he is author of 10 books and editor of two didactic texts of Organic Chemistry for the publishing house Edi-Ermes.
