Carlo Magrassi has been President of the Fincantieri Foundation since 2022 and is an adjunct lecturer at Luiss Guido Carli.
On 13 August 2013, he became Chief of Staff to the Minister of Defence, Mario Mauro, remaining in post until 21 May 2014, when he was appointed military adviser to the Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, a role he held until 8 October 2015.
On 9 October 2015, he took up the post of Secretary-General for Defence and National Director of Armaments, remaining in office until 8 October 2018; on 9 October 2018, he was appointed adviser to the Minister of Defence on industrial policy, change and cooperation, a role he held until 4 September 2019.
