Director General Presidency of the Council
Francesco Tufarelli is currently Director General of the Office for the Coordination of Policies of the European Union within the Department for European Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Within the same Presidency he was Director General of the Office for urban and mountain policies, institutional modernization and the international activity of regional and local autonomies and Director General of Sport. He was Head of Cabinet of the Minister of Community Policies and of the Minister for Cultural Heritage from 2001 to 2006. Later Director of Public Affairs of Sky Italia and again Head of Cabinet of the Minister for European Affairs from 2001 to 2013. Over the years previous he was Legal Advisor to various Ministers, Secretary of the Commission for the Guarantee of Statistical Information and Head of the Legislative Office of the Agency for the Jubilee of 2000. He was Coordinator of the Observatory on the European Convention and of the Observatory for the European citizenship. He was a member of the Italian delegation in the last two semesters of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. He was a member of the Commission guaranteeing the implementation of the law on strikes in essential public services. He was Secretary General of the Automobile Club of Italy and currently chairs the Guarantee Commission of the ACI Sport Federation. From 1990 to 2000 he taught “Institutions of Public Law” at the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of the La Sapienza University of Rome and since 2001 he has taught European Law at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Roma Tre. Since 2004 he has been teaching “Administration Science” at the Faculty of Political Science of the Guglielmo Marconi University in Rome. He is the author and editor of numerous legal studies and publications. He currently chairs the “La Parabola” Study Center and the “Europolitica” network.
