Director of the National Authority for Export Control of Armament and Dual-Use Materials
Giorgio Aliberti has been Director of the UAMA National Authority at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) since January 2024. Previously, he served as Ambassador of the European Union to Vietnam from September 2019 to August 2023 and as Deputy Principal Director for Asia and Oceania at MAECI in the period 2018-19. He was Ambassador of Italy to Myanmar from June 2015 to June 2018. Previously, he served in Washington, Brussels, Copenhagen and Nairobi. Graduated in Political Economy at Bocconi University in Milan, he continued his studies at the Ecole Nationale d’Administration in France and obtained a Master’s degree in Applied Environmental Economics at Wye College, University of London, UK. He has held conferences at universities and international research centers in various European countries and has participated as a speaker on European and Asian issues at numerous events. He has published articles on issues relating to the EU and the Western Balkans and EU-ASEAN relations.
