Giulio Tremonti

Giulio Tremonti has been a university professor since 1974 and has taught in the law faculties of the Universities of Macerata, Parma and Pavia. He is a practicing lawyer in the Supreme Court.
He is the author of various publications, including: “Rinascimento” (2017) with V. Sgarbi; “Mundus Furiosus” (2016); “Lies and Truth – The Reason of the People” (2014); “Emergency Exit” (2012); “Fear and Hope” (2008); “Fatal Risks” (2005); “The criminogenic state” (1997); “The ghost of poverty” (1995). With G. Vitaletti he is the author of: “The one hundred taxes of Italians” (1986); “The Tax Fair” (1991); “Fiscal federalism” (1994). With S. Cassese, F. Galgano and T. Treu he is the author of: “Nations without wealth, riches without nation” (1993).
Giulio Tremonti was Visiting Professor at the Institute of Comparative Law at Oxford University. He has participated in numerous debates and held conferences, in Italy and abroad: Oxford Union Society; Cambridge Union Society; Humboldt University; Chatham House; Freiburg Universität – Walter Eucken-Vorlesung; Yale University – School of Law; Herzliya Conference; Central School of the Communist Party of China.
From 1984 to 1994, when he began his political activity, he was a columnist for the “Corriere della Sera”. He is co-editor of the “Review of financial law and finance science”.
He is a member of the Moral Sciences class of the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere. He has been a member of the Italian Parliament since 1994. He is currently Senator of the Republic, Foreign Affairs Commission.
Giulio Tremonti was Vice President of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Finance, Minister of Economy and Finance, Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies.
