Irene Savio is a journalist specializing in international information and conflicts. She currently works as a correspondent for the Spanish newspaper El Periódico in Italy and the Balkans and has also been a war correspondent in Ukraine for the French public television broadcaster France 24. In the past, she has covered conflicts, natural disasters, humanitarian crises, political issues and economic in several European countries, and occasionally in Africa and the Middle East. She holds a master’s degree in International Law and International Relations, and after graduating in Foreign Languages, she obtained a postgraduate diploma in Digital Journalism. In 2016, her interview with a Yazidi victim of ISIS, published in Newsweek, was awarded the award for the best interview of the year by the Spanish association La Buena Prensa.
