Jeffrey J. Checkel is an American academic pioneer of process training in political sciences and the Constructivist approach. After getting a bachelor of science in the School of Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University he got a PhD in political sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He then became Adjunct Research Professor at the University of Oslo and global fellow at the all’International Peace Research Institute in Oslo. Before he joimed the European University Institute in Italy he was professor at the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and Simons Chair in International Law and Human Security. His research main themes are international relations theory, conflict studies, European Integration and qualitative methods. In 2015 he received the Humboldt Reasearch Award and he then became associate editor at the Journal of Peace Research. He published a lor throughout the years, including four books from Cambridge University Press and one volume from Yale University Press.
