Born in Milan on 19 January 1972, he graduated in 1995 in Political Science at the University of Milan and in 1996/1997 attended the course in preparation for a diplomatic career and international careers at the Institute of International Political Studies (ISPI) from Milan.
He entered the diplomatic career on 29 December 1997 and served in the General Directorate of Personnel while following the professional training course at the Diplomatic Institute of the Farnesina.
In September 2000 he was assigned to the Italian Embassy in Cairo where he follows international and internal dossiers, as well as the media.
On 1 September 2004 he was appointed Consul General in Liège.
In June 2008 he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the Directorate General for European Integration, where he deals with community issues, in particular European financial instruments and cooperation programs for accession countries and for the Neighborhood Countries.
From December 2008 to June 2009 he attended the professional refresher course for Legation Counselors at the Diplomatic Institute.
In December 2010 he was called to collaborate in the newly established General Directorate for the Country System.
In February 2012 he was assigned as Commercial Counselor to the Italian Embassy in Madrid. He was promoted to Embassy Counselor in July of the same year.
On 1 August 2016, he was in Montreal where he carried out the functions of Consul General and Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
From 8 January 2019 to 13 February 2021 he was Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea, Sergio Costa. He was subsequently confirmed as Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani.
Having returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since 1 September 2021 he has been Head of the Office for Development Cooperation Policies in Africa at the Directorate General for Development Cooperation.
Appointed by the President of the Council of Ministers, he assumes the functions of Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation on 12 December 2023.
