Michele Valensise

He is an Italian diplomat, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2016. Ambassador of rank.
Director of Astaldi from 2016 to 2020. Director of Tim S.p.A from 2018.
In 1975 he entered the diplomatic career. He was initially assigned to the Directorate of Economic Affairs, then, in 1978, he was transferred to the Italian Embassy in Brasilia and in 1981 to the Italian Embassy to the German Federal Republic.
From 1984 to 1987, during the civil war in Lebanon, he was a councilor in Beirut.
Since 1991 he has been First Counselor in Brussels, at the Italian Permanent Representation to the European Union.
In 1997 he was ambassador to Sarajevo. In 1999 he returned to the Farnesina.
From 2001 to 2004 he was Head of the Press and Information Service at the Farnesina and spokesperson for foreign ministers Renato Ruggiero, Silvio Berlusconi (interim) and Franco Frattini.
In May 2012 he was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then left his post in 2016.
In November 2016, subsequently reconfirmed in 2020, he was elected President of the Italian-German Center for European Dialogue Villa Vigoni on the joint proposal of the Italian and German governments.
