Ambassador Miguel Fernández-Palacios was born in 1965 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He completed his Constitutional Law’s PhD in the Complutense University of Madrid and joined the Spanish Diplomatic services in 1994. His career has started in the embassies of Algiers (1995-1997), The Hague (1997-2000) and Tegucigalpa (2000-2003). Then, he has been Ambassador in the Democratic Republic of Congo between 2006 and 2008 and Ethiopia from 2011 to 2015, as well as Permanent Representative Observer to the African Union. In Spain, he has served the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Defence, being the Director of the Private Office of the Minister, and in the Congress of Deputies, as the Director of the Private Office of the Speaker. In 2018, he was appointed as the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Spain in the Council of the North Atlantic Organization (NATO). In this moment, Miguel Fernández-Palacios Martínez is the Spanish Ambassador to Italy.
