Nicola Pedde

Nicola Pedde (1967), after graduating in Law (La Sapienza University, Faculty of Law) obtained a Master’s degree in International Relations (St. John’s University) and then a Doctorate in Economic Geography (La Sapienza University, Faculty of Economics), focusing the interest of his studies on the analysis of regional relations and the evolution of the security policies of the countries of the Middle East and Africa.

He carried out his professional activity in the field of research first at the University of Rome La Sapienza (Faculty of Economics), for the Institute of Geopolitical and Geoeconomic Studies (ISGEo) and at the Center for Advanced Studies for Defense – Military Center of Strategic Studies. As part of his activities at the Ministry of Defense he held the position of Political Advisor (POLAD) at national commands and international missions.

Since 2005 he has been at IGS – Institute for Global Studies, where he mainly deals with analysis of the political systems of countries in the Middle East and Africa area and where he directs the research program “Mediterranean, Africa and Middle East”.

Nicola Pedde teaches “Geopolitics of Energy and the Environment” at the Faculty of Political Sciences of Roma Tre, and has previously taught “Politics and Institutions of Middle Eastern countries” and “Economics and Energy Policy” at the University of Rome La Sapienza, the American University of Rome and John Cabot University.

He has published numerous academic and popular articles, and written some monographs, including “Geopolitics of Energy” (Carocci, 2001) and “1979-The Revolution in Iran” (Rosemberg & Sellier, 2019).
