Captain Roberto D’Arrigo was born in Catania in March 1970 and has been in service in the Port Authority Corps since 1992. He attended the course for “directly appointed” Officers at the Naval Academy and completed the periods boarding on board the Nave San Giusto and the CP401 “Oreste Cavallari” offshore patrol boat. He obtained the military license as “Helicopter Specialist” and the qualification as “Technical Officer” on the “P166DL3SEM”, “P180 Avanti II” and ATR42MP aircraft, supplied to the Coast Guard Air Service. He served at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department of Civil Protection, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at the Center for Advanced Studies for Defense and at the General Command of the Port Authority Corps. It was also sent to the Maritime Directorate of Catania, the Port Authority of Ancona and the 1st Coast Guard Air Unit of Sarzana. During his career he commanded the Maritime District Office of Sanremo (from 2005 to 2007) and the 2nd Coast Guard Air Unit of Catania (from 2015 to 2017). He attended the 54th Normal Course of the General Staff of the Institute of Maritime Military Studies of Venice (ISMM), the XVI Superior Course of the Joint Forces General Staff (ISSMI), the 4th Course of Training of trainers in innovative experiential methodologies, the XVI Course for “Legal Advisor of the Armed Forces, in international humanitarian law and law of military operations” and the 40th Course of “Civil-Military Cooperation”. Commander D’Arrigo obtained master’s degrees in “Law”, “Economic Sciences”, “Public Administration Sciences” and “Management”. He also obtained degrees in “Organisational and management sciences” and “Sciences for investigation and security”, as well as first and second level university master’s degrees in “International strategic military studies”, “Security and intelligence. Analysis and management” , “Strategic studies and international security” and “Law and economics of the sea”. He also obtained a specialization diploma in “Public Management and European Economic Policies” from the National School of Administration. He is qualified to practice as a freelance industrial expert in the “Aeronautic Constructions” specialization and is a teacher in various disciplines in “Higher Technical” training courses.
