The growing proliferation of generative artificial intelligence and digital technologies is redefining the dynamics of information, public participation, and democratic security. Deepfakes, disinformation campaigns, and new forms of public opinion manipulation pose increasingly complex challenges for national and European institutions, putting to the test citizens’ trust, the transparency of decision-making processes, and the protection of fundamental rights. In an international landscape marked by the emergence of new strategies for digital influence and interference, it has become a priority to strengthen the capacity of democracies to recognize, prevent, and counter threats that could compromise their stability and core values. Promoted by the National Association of Young Innovators (ANGI) in collaboration with the European Parliament offices in Italy, this event aims to foster an institutional dialogue among representatives from European and national bodies, experts, and key figures in the innovation sector regarding the new frontiers of democratic security in the digital age. The debate will focus on the role of artificial intelligence in disinformation processes, strategies to counter interference and authoritarian trends, the responsibility of digital platforms, and the need to develop regulatory, technological, and cultural tools capable of safeguarding freedom of information, pluralism, and European democratic sovereignty.
