In an international context marked by tensions, conflicts and uncertainties, women’s contribution to diplomacy is taking on an increasingly strategic value. This is not just a question of representation or gender equality, but of the quality of decision-making. Women often bring with them more inclusive approaches, oriented towards dialogue, mediation and peacebuilding.
In Europe, the presence of women in diplomatic roles is growing, but still remains far from full equality. However, there is no shortage of positive signs: more and more women are leading embassies, international missions, multilateral bodies, bringing with them a more cooperative and people-centred vision. Promoting female participation in diplomacy means strengthening a Europe capable of talking to the world in a credible, humane and forward-looking way. A Europe that invests in peace, intercultural dialogue, equitable cooperation and sustainable development. Because where there are more women in peace processes, the results last longer. And where women drive, bridges are often built instead of walls.
