Foreign policy and domestic policy in the new world order

GO TO THE OTHER EVENTS

Election years represent moments of particular intensity and transformation in a country’s political life, where government strategies, public messages, and political priorities intertwine with the demands of the election campaign. The 2024-2025 period, characterized by important electoral events in Europe and around the world, highlights the complex and often ambivalent relationship between foreign and domestic policy.

This conference aims to explore how global tensions, from the war in Ukraine to energy crises, from competition with major powers to climate challenges, influence national political debate and, conversely, how domestic dynamics affect the ability of states to formulate coherent and credible foreign policies.

The mechanisms by which political parties use foreign policy to build consensus, mobilize voters, or negotiate domestic alliances will be analyzed, as well as how international issues are integrated into electoral platforms. We will also discuss how political communication and the media contribute to shaping public perceptions of global challenges in an electoral context.

Through discussions between international politics experts, political analysts, and institutional representatives, the panel will offer a reflection on the dynamics that will characterize 2024-2025, between opportunities and risks, in a delicate balance between domestic agendas and global scenarios.
