The Power of words

The power of words is the series of video conversations in collaboration with the School on Complexity conceived and led by Michele Gerace. An invitation to dwell on the meaning and sense we attribute to words, to words and, therefore, to consider the importance they have in shaping our thoughts and the content of our actions.

While there are images that seem to replace words or leave little or nothing to the imagination, why are words still so important to the way we are, feel and know? What power do words have in love, in the family, in friendship, in institutions, in business, in interpersonal relationships and in more or less complex organisations? What impact do they have in politics, in society, in the concrete unfolding of community life both local and international?

In each conversation with special guests, we present the power of the word in the ambiguity and contradictory nature of the sui generis nature of our being human and technological by definition: in being able to ask the right questions, tackle problems with no apparent solution, find new forms of thinking and answers where it seems there are none. In short, in the development of emergent properties that are, at the same time, typically human and transcend our own humanity.

After all, there is a word, sublime as it is magnificent and terrible, sacred, that is at once knowledge, creation, teaching and the law through which our being human expresses itself. It is a law that we can consider a law of nature and it is called coexistence.
