Francesco Maiolo graduated in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Roma Tre in Rome. He taught Political Philosophy and Philosophy of Law at the Universities of Leiden, Nijmegen, and Maastricht, where he earned his PhD in Law with a thesis on the concept of sovereignty in the works of Bartolo da Sassoferrato and Marsilio da Padova. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Political Theory and a Politics Fellow at the University College of Utrecht University. His current research focuses on the development of sovereignty in the modern age, theories of recognition, and the political thought of Michel Foucault.
